Middlesex County, with the support of our netball clubs, organise central venue fitness testing sessions for our umpires each season. All umpires for the County league and the North London netball league must submit a bleep test to the County Officiating Lead prior to officiating to be compliant with each league's rules.
Membership (previously known as affiliation) to England Netball must also be in place and active before an umpire can officiate a match. Checks will be undertaken by the County League and NLNL umpiring co-ordinators. Penalty points will be deducted if umpires are not compliant with the rules of the respective leagues.
The responsibility lies with the clubs to ensure that any umpires they use are both current, paid up England Netballmembers and suitably fitness tested as per the above guidelines - always ‘check before you book!’
County League requires fitness submissions twice per season in September and January. North London Netball league do not currently require a second fitness submission - only a September submission.
Middlesex County League All umpires wishing to officiate at Middlesex County league matches must have completed a bleep test and have submitted the appropriate documentation to the County league umpiring co-ordinator prior to umpiring a County league match. The minimum bleep test levels have been set as: Premier and Division 1: - 6.1 Divisions 2 and 3: - 5.1
North London Netball League All umpires wishing to officiate at North London Netball league matches must have completed a bleep test and have submitted the appropriate documentation prior to umpiring a NLNL match. The minimum bleep test levels have been set as: Premier and Division 1: – 6.1 Divisions 2, 3 and 4: - 5.1 Divisions 5 to 10: - 4.1
Umpires who are required to complete a bleep test submission for Super league, Premier league or Regional league officiating and for any C to B or B to A umpires who have applied for their practical assessments, please ensure you refer to the requirements of those leagues and applications on timescales for submission and use the official England Netball fitness form available on the Middlesex and England Netball websites.
Please also note that there is no longer a requirement for learner umpires preparing for their C umpire award practical assessment to complete a fitness submission as part of their application. However, in line with County league and North London league requirements, you must still have one in place in order to be able to officiate and to be assessed within the leagues.
Dates, times and venues for testing will be advertised here when available.
