Long Service Award
The inauguration of the Middlesex County Netball Association Long Service Award, to be given to those who have, voluntarily, supported Netball within the County for 10 years (or more) through Club and/or League and/or County, excluding playing career was announced in May 2019.
Netball is the ultimate team game – you cannot function alone on the court! Most people are drawn into the Netball world through playing, too few are generous enough to continue the team ethos by ‘giving back’ to the sport in other ways.
The first recipients of this Award were revealed at the recent Annual General Meeting and many attended to receive their Award in person. The majority of these volunteers were identified by members of the County Committee as having been involved with netball in Middlesex for far more than the minimum 10 years – several with over 40 years of commitment to our sport!
Vice President Maureen Hyam, a former International Umpire and Middlesex County Umpiring Secretary, made the presentations and it was a pleasure to see contacts being renewed and hear memories revived.
Congratulations to all the Award Winners and ‘Thank’ You’ to you all for your generous support for our wonderful game and ‘Team Middlesex’.
