You What Umpire Trophy
The ‘You What!’ Trophy had been presented to the County by former International Umpire and Middlesex Vice President Maureen Hyam and her late husband, Dick, to be awarded to umpires who have supported Middlesex in any way. 2020: This year the award goes to an umpire who has contributed in so many ways. As an outstanding mentor and tutor, supporting and encouraging a large number of umpires to reach their potential. As a volunteer on the Middlesex County Netball Association Committee and County League Committee as Umpiring Secretary - a highly administration rich and time-consuming role. As leader of the ‘MUMPS’ - the Middlesex Umpires Group, creating an incredible ethos and community for many umpires, some of which are not attached to any one club, but through MUMPS have a ’netball home’. And of course, an elite level umpire herself, umpiring National Premier League and also selected as part of the England Netball Performance Group. This year the You What Trophy is awarded to Amber Derrien. County Cup The County Cup had previously been presented to a County team/squad for success or endeavour. Since we no longer have County squads, the Committee decided that, in future the Cup would be presented to a Middlesex County Club or team.
The ONE Awards All nine England Netball Regions will choose a Regional winner from each of the 10 competitive categories. Regional winners will then be put forward for the National Award which will be announced at the The National ONE Awards sponsored by California Prunes. For an overview of all of the awards, including who is eligible, see England Netball website.
Jack Petchey Award Middlesex Satellite and County Academies are part of the Jack Petchey Foundation Scheme, which inspires young people to personally develop and achieve their aims and ambitions. Middlesex are Silver scheme members and receive 6 awards per calendar year.
In what has been a few unprecedented years, MCNA have introduced a new Special Recognition Award to celebrate the contributions of those volunteers who have given their time, commitment and energy to enable netball in Middlesex to continue to flourish in a safe and enjoyable manner.
At the AGM on 24 June 2021, we recognised the following volunteers and thanked them for their contributions which we could not let go unrewarded.
